The general ACADEMIC CALENDAR is as follows: Fall Term: usually from the beginning of October to the middle of January (Christmas Holid followed by the exams period ending in the middle of February. Spring Term: usually from the middle of February to the middle of May, followed by the exa ending in the end of June. The Academic Calendar 2009/10 [ URL "http://tarantula.ruk.cuni.cz/FHS-164-version1-2009_10 Exchange students attend courses in English together with Czech students, what we consider feature of the study abroad experience. We offer interdisciplinary courses in Humanities c Culture, Literature and Intercultural Studies as well as multiculturalism in social and po of the Central Europe. Students are expected to attend classes/seminars that might be comb independent studies as well. The course offer consists of courses in English designed espe Erasmus/Exchange and Czech students and of selected courses from the UPCES program [ URL " ei.cz/default.asp"] that has been designed especially for american students, however Excha can join the selected courses. ECTS credits refer to the course“s workload (1ECTS=25 hou The number of ECTS credits is listed in the course list for each course (lesson, seminar, studies). In general the standard courses (lesson, seminars) and independent studies are w ECTS credits, UPCES courses are worth of 6 ECTS credits. Independent study usually in the form of re not require regular week schedule, however students are expected to meet the tutor several and consult the assigned readings and final paper that must be submitted in the end of the schedule is available 2 weeks prior the beginning of the term.
