Exchange students attend courses in English together with Czech students, what we consider as an important feature of the study abroad experience. We offer interdisciplinary courses in Humanities covering History, Culture, Literature and Intercultural Studies as well as multiculturalism in social and political context of the Central Europe. Students are expected to attend classes/seminars that might be combined with independent studies as well. The course offer consists of courses in English designed especially for Erasmus/Exchange and Czech students and of selected courses from the Externí odkaz UPCES program that has been designed especially for american students, however Exchange students can join the selected courses. For the general course list see the Odkaz v rámci webu Course offer section.

ECTS credits:

We apply the ECTS credit system. ECTS credits refer to the course´s workload (1ECTS=25 hours of work).

The number of ECTS credits is listed in the course list for each course (lesson, seminar, independent studies). In general the standard courses (lesson, seminars) and independent studies are worth of 2,3 or 4 ECTS credits, UPCES courses are worth of 6 ECTS credits.

Contact-schedule:

Standard courses require 80 min per a week, the selected UPCES courses require 4 (4x45 min.) per a week, as listed in the course regular week schedule. Independent study usually in the form of reading course does not require regular week schedule, however students are expected to meet the tutor several times per a term and consult the assigned readings and final paper that must be submitted in the end of the term. Detailed schedule is available 2 weeks prior the beginning of the term.

Course Requirements:

In general students are expected to follow the required readings, take part in class discussion, and submit a final paper on a topic to be chosen in coordination with the instructor, for specific requirements see the syllabus in Externí odkaz SIS.

Transcript of Records:

When students have completed their studies, International Office issues the Transcript. Students can collect them there or request them to be sent to their home universities.

Students can check their transcript online after log into Externí odkaz SIS : "Summary of exam results".
