STUDENT DORMITORIES ("koleje") - CHARLES UNIVERSITY RESIDENCE HALLS

Accommodation is provided in Charles University Halls of Residence (= dormitories). Students are housed in double-occupancy rooms. Single rooms are not available. Unit system consists of twin rooms (= double room with two separate beds) shared bathroom facilities (shower and wc). A small kitchenette is usually at the end of each corridor. Students can also use a lavatory and hanging rooms in the building (keys are available at the reception against a fee). Bedding and bed linen are provided (bed linen is exchanged regularly); towels and kitchen utensils (such as pans, plates, cups etc.) are not.

To check-in you need: your passport / ID, the original of your Accommodation Voucher, one photograph. Students who arrive after office hours will be housed for the night (the reception is open 24 hours a day) and registered on the following workday at the Accommodation Office.

The rent is paid directly in cash (CZK) at the Accommodation Office / Reception at the appropriate residence. No cards accepted.

Students make the first payment upon their arrival and must make subsequent monthly payments in advance - always at the latest on the 25th of the preceding month (the administration staff of the dormitory can send you an email reminder with dates of payment for the next month).

The charge for 1 bed / day when the length of accommodation is from 30 – 90 days will be approx. CZK 150.

The charge for 1 bed / day when the length of accommodation is from 90 – 270 days will be approx. CZK 120.

A deposit CZK 1800 is to be paid approximately 2 months before arrival.

If a student wishes to leave the accommodation earlier than is stated in the agreement, he or she will have to pay a penalty charge that will be deducted from the "advance" part of the payment.

* Hostivař Residence Hall

Address: Kolej areál Hostivař, Weilova 2, 100 00, Prague 10 (bus No. 154, 271; station Nádraží Hostivař)

In each house there are 2 washing-machines and a hanging room available.

LAN internet connection is provided in all houses (students need to bring their own cable!); wi-fi connection is available in the entrance hall.

In the entrance hall you can find an internet café, a study room and a bar with TV and a dartboard.

A cafeteria open Mo-Fr during lunch-time hours is located above the entrance hall.

From Main railway station ("Hlavní nádraží"):

a) Go by tram No.26 (the tram stop is situated c.100m to the right from the exit of the railway station hall) to Nádraží Hostivař station (final station). The areal of the hall of residence is situated next the bus stop.

b) Go by subway red C line to Muzeum station, where change to green A line to Skalka station. At Skalka change to bus No.154 or 271 as far as Nádraží Hostivař station. The areal of the hall of residence is situated next the bus stop.

From Holešovice railway station:

Go by subway red C line to Muzeum station, where change to green A line to Skalka station. At Skalka change to bus No.154 or 271 as far as Nádraží Hostivař station. The areal of the hall of residence is situated next the bus stop.

From Airport Ruzyně:

Go by bus No.119 to Dejvická station, there change to subway green A line to Skalka station. At Skalka change to bus No.154 or 271 as far as Nádraží Hostivař station. The areal of the hall of residence is situated next the bus stop.

* Větrník Residence Hall

Address: Kolej Na Větrníku, 162 00, Prague 6 (tram No. 1, 2, 18, bus No. 184, 191; stop "Větrník")

The Hall of Residence is located in a calm residence quarter in immediate proximity of Hvězda Park and Břevnov Monastery.

From Main railway station ("Hlavní nádraží"):

Go by subway red C line to Vltavská station, change to tram No.1 as far as Větrník tram stop. Then go on foot to the left (from the direction of tram) towards Na Větrníku street. The hall of residence is situated on the right side of the street, c.4 mins. from the tram stop.

From Holešovice railway station:

From Airport Ruzyně:

Go by bus No.179 to Větrník bus stop. Then go on foot to the right (across the crossing) towards Na Větrníku street. The hall of residence is situated on the right side of the street, c.5 mins. from the bus stop.

In the cellar of the Hall of Residence is located student club “Hvězda” with variable evening programme.

From Main railway station ("Hlavní nádraží"):

a) Go by subway red C line to Vltavská station, change to tram No.1 as far as Obchodní dům Petřiny tram stop. Then go on foot to the left (from the direction of the tram), through the housing estate. The hall of residence is situated c.8 mins. from the tram stop.

b) Go by subway red C line to Vltavská station, change to tram No.25 as far as Vypich tram stop. Then go on foot to the right from the direction of the tram, along a sport stadium. The hall of residence is ca. 5 mins. from the tram stop.

From Holešovice railway station:

Go by bus No.179 to Nad Markétou bus stop. The hall of residence is situated on the left, next the bus stop.
