Lecture entitled "In search of a new freedom. New nomads and migration literature" will be given by Dr. phil. Hans-Christian Trepte (Universität Leipzig).

After the democratic turn in East Central Europe (1989/1990) emigration turned mainly into migration. Nevertheless many writers from Eastern and Central Europe stayed in the West, refusing (re)integration in their native countries.

It will all start with a parade from Kampa which will then gradually move to the Charles University campus at Karolinum and to the student club where concerts and the after party will take place.

Creative Mornings Prague with Jan Sokol

CreativeMornings is a free, monthly breakfast lecture series for creative types. Each event is free of charge, and includes a 20 minute talk, plus coffee!

The May sessions all around the world are on FREEDOM and we are very proud to host Jan Sokol — philosopher, former dissident, politician, translator, anthropologist and university professor, signatory of Charta 77 and one of the founders of Občanské fórum.

On June 5 – 7, 2014 International and interdisciplinary conference of Historians and supporters of oral history is held at Sovinec castle in the Olomouc region.

On Thursday evening Cynthia Kráčmerová (University of Geneva) will give her presentation "How was the State control established during the period of Normalization in Czechoslovakia, focusing on workplace, family, education and private/public life"  in English.

Presentation of the book - Civil Society and Human Rights in Eastern Central Europe

The German language publication Bürgerliche Gesellschaft und Menschenrechte im östlichen Mitteleuropa, jointly produced by the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University and Munich’s Collegium Carolina, focuses on subjects that are key to the philosophy of Václav Havel. Some 14 writers from the Czech Republic (Karel Müller, Karel B. Müller, Vilém Prečan, Marek Skovajsa, Jan Sokol, Václav Žák), Germany, Slovakia and Poland have contributed to it and most will take part in this presentation of the book.

The discussion will be led by editors Robert Luft, Miloš Havelka and Stefan Zwicker and take place in Czech and German.

Alternative Date of entrance exams is June 23, 2014.

Different exam date is applicable only for serious reasons (illness of an applicant). A medical report for a different exam date should be sent no later than 3 days after the regular exam date. Exams for another study program at another faculty or institution is not a valid reason for different exam date.
