Majáles (traditional student festival)

The second year of the awesome student spring festival Majáles is coming up soon and the time has come to invite YOU!

It will all start with a parade from Kampa which will then gradually move to the Charles University campus at Karolinum and to the student club where concerts and the after party will take place.

What can you look forward to?

All sorts of diverse student bands, theaters, films, author readings, improvisational theater, student clubs presentations, the election of our new king or queen, workshops and much more.

So don´t make other plans for May 1st and come celebrate our holiday with us.

We are also preparing a pre-Majáles happening which should introduce the tradition, spirit and principals of Majáles to everyone. It will also be the time to discuss the topic of Majáles and you will have the chance to get involved in other supporting activities and programs.

Majáles is a traditional student festival which takes place on May 1st every year. Student Majáles is a new project which was born in 2013 and was held on the Charles University campus. It all started with a few active students who disagreed with the current form of Majáles celebrations and wanted to emphasize the fact that Majáles is the celebration of Students. Therefore, it should not be a commercial event and should be organized by students themselves which was typical for the original Majáles celebrations in the 60ies.

The goal of Majáles is to present an authentic student culture. It is a multicultural student festival which presents student bands, theaters, films, clubs and beginning artists. Last but not least its goal is to make students familiar with the functioning of the academic community.
