UPCES and CET Courses

From September 2016 on, most of the UPCES and CET courses will change their status from compulsory optional courses to optional courses. This sets a limit on the number of these courses in your study curriculum: only 26 credits can be obtained from optional courses in the total amount of credits gained during the whole study.

This rule does not apply retrospectively, i.e. your former UPCES and CET courses will count as compulsory-optional.

As to the extent of this change, all of the UPCES and CET courses will be regarded as "optional" for the bachelor study program of Liberal Arts and Humanities. There are, however, three exceptions that will retain their compulsory-optional status. These are:

·

  • YBAU 11BLI -- Ideas behind Politics: Communism, Post Communism, and Civil Society in Central Europe (Juraj Hvorecký)

  • YBAC 04 -- Nationalism, Minorities and Migrations in Europe (Salim Murad)

  • YBAC 13 -- Political and Cultural History of East Central Europe in the 20th Century (Oldřich Tůma)

Hints for SIS

  • To find the UPCES and CET courses >> under Subjects look for Code field and search for codes beginning with “YBAU” (for UPCES) or “YBAC” (for CET).

  • To check a type of a given course >> under Summary of exam results have a look at the "Type" column. The optional courses have an empty field whereas for the others it says either required (meaning "compulsory") or required with an alternative (meaning "compulsory-optional").

  • To check a number of credits for specific type of courses >> under Summary of exam results see the page bottom and look for the line Total obtained eurocredits for required/required with an alternative/optional courses.
