            Pavel Himl deals with the history of the countries of the Habsburg Monarchy roughly betwee

            and 1850 in a historical-anthropological perspective. It focuses, among other things, on t
            marginal groups and on the transformation of social norms, connected with contemporary ide
            order" or "public morality", at the border between the early modern and modern times. His 

            is the book Observe, describe, create. The Enlightenment Police and the Modern State 1770-
            2019). He worked as a visiting teacher in Vienna, Gießen and Paris.
