INVITING APPLICATIONS FOR A POSITION OF ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The Dean of Faculty of Humanities of Charles University announces an open job search for the position of Assistant Professor in the field of Gender Studies, in the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Humanities.

Position Description:

• 0,5 FTE Appointment (fixed-term employment contract)

• The candidate is expected to participate in teaching in the Master´s study program in gender studies in English and the Bachelor's program in Humanities in English, in supervising of student qualification theses (Bachelor's and Master 's theses) and in expanding the research and publishing potential of the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Humanities, Charles University.

Fields of specialization primarily sought in this job search:

• Feminist Sociology / Gender Studies and Critical Race Theory;

• Additional specialization in another social science interdisciplinary field present at faculty (environmental studies, historical sociology, civil society studies).

Requirements:

• Finished Ph.D. (required) in the field of gender studies, sociology or related fields of social sciences with emphasis on gender and race; additional specialization in another interdisciplinary field present at faculty (environmental studies, historical sociology, civil society studies);

• Previous experience with teaching at university level in the searched fields (including supervising student's diploma theses);

• Ability to teach and guide student works in English language;

• Demonstrated ability to acquire research grants and lead research projects;

• Letter of motivation, introducing the applicant's specialization and possible research and/or study program development plans;

• List of ten most important publications, including 1 full-text of most relevant work;

• Short description of 2 courses, which the applicant plans to offer at FHS – one for the MA program in Gender Studies, one for the BA program in Humanities.

Start of Job: summer semester 2022
