Ethnomusicology Programme

What do punks and Pygmees have in common?  What are the topics of songs by the Roma rapper from Žižkov? Why do people dance folk dances in the present times …? These are some of the topics at the Faculty of Humanities, at Charles University, Prague (FHS UK), that our students are writiting their theses about … and also about the Jewish klezmer, rock revival, and free tekno music cultures …

Ethnomusicology, or anthropology of music, is a popular and frequently taught discipline at world‘s most renowned universities. In Czech Republic, FHS UK is the only faculty in the country that offers a comprehensive selection of ethnomusicology courses to our international and Czech students.
