This directive is issued to establish the conditions for awarding scholarships, for determining the amount of scholarships, and for awarding and paying scholarships at the Faculty of Humanities of Charles University (hereinafter referred to as the "Faculty").
This directive determines the amount of scholarships in cases where the internal regulations give this right to the Dean.
A scholarship is awarded for participation in scientific research activities to doctoral students of the Faculty who have defended their dissertation at the Faculty within the standard period of study or within the standard period of study plus one year.
The conditions for the award of the scholarship are checked automatically by the Faculty's Doctoral Studies Department after each dissertation defence.
The scholarship is paid out of the scholarship fund only after the student has defended the dissertation.
At the beginning of the month in which the newly proposed scholarships are to be paid, the Faculty's Doctoral Studies Department shall deliver the decision referred to in Article 2(1) of this directive to the students via the Student Information System (hereinafter referred to as 'SIS').
The student shall have the possibility to view the decision in the Personal Data module of the SIS and to waive the right to appeal against the decision. The timely waiver of the right of appeal will speed up the entry into force of the decision. If the decision becomes effective within 3 calendar days of the date of receipt of the decision, the grant will be paid on the payday of the month.
If the student does not waive the right of appeal within 3 calendar days of receipt of the decision, the payment of the scholarship will be postponed to the next calendar month.
Scholarships shall be paid to students in cash to their bank accounts, as recorded in the student's personal data in SIS. The learner enters his/her bank account number into the SIS in the Personal Data module of the SIS and is responsible for its accuracy and timeliness.
Students who have defended their dissertation in the Faculty's doctoral programme within the standard study period are awarded a scholarship of CZK 30,000.
Students who have defended their doctoral thesis in the faculty's doctoral study programme within the standard period of study plus one year shall be awarded a scholarship of CZK 20 000.
The directive of the Dean of the Faculty No. 10/2024 on the payment of a scholarship for the early completion of doctoral studies applies to doctoral students of the Faculty who defend their doctoral thesis according to Article 2(1) starting in the academic year 2024/2025.
I hereby designate the Vice-Dean for Doctoral Studies as the person responsible for implementing and monitoring compliance with this directive.
This directive shall enter into force on the date of signature.
This directive shall enter into force on 1 October 2024.
