The Faculty of Humanities of Charles University will participate in the international campaign "Flag for Tibet", which will take place on Friday 10 March 2023. The aim of the campaign is to highlight the long-standing human rights violations in Tibet.
On 10 March 2023, the international "Flag for Tibet" campaign marks the 64th anniversary of the Tibetan uprising against the Chinese occupation of Tibet, in which 80 000 Tibetans died. By raising the flag, we will express our symbolic support for a nation that, like our country before 1989, experienced both totalitarianism and occupation. The Tibetan flag is one of the most prominent symbols used by Tibetans in non-violent protests in Tibet. By flying it, they risk up to several years in prison.
In 2022, 853 municipalities, cities, townships or regions in the Czech republic supported the campaign.
