As part of implementing the HR Award project, Charles University strives to systematically improve working conditions and equal treatment of its employees. CU has published an overview text with tools and available activities to improve the position of academic and technical-economic workers. It aims at strengthening good relations at the university and orientation in its structures. The overview emphasises the creation of a respectful environment that caters for individual preferences. It is equally crucial to prevent risks such as delusion, stress, frustration, loss of motivation, etc. so that meaningful dialogue across the university and academia is not compromised.
The document refers, among others, to the Employee Handbook, which explains the basic concepts, the university's system of operation and management, its strategies and policies, including those on personnel, and contains much practical information such as the introduction of flexible working hours, remote work, and clear guidelines for personal leave and development days. The handbook draws attention to the area of staff care, where the introduction of psychological counselling is seen as important, followed by the establishment of the new centre of mental health care. Charles University is also creating support for foreign colleagues, whose adaptation to local regimes is facilitated by the Staff Welcome Centre.
