On Friday, January 17, at the General Assembly of the Czech Association for Social Anthropology (CASA), two graduates of FHS UK were awarded prizes in the 9th annual CASA 2024 Prize Competition for the best thesis. The CASA Prize for the best bachelor thesis was awarded to Bc. Daniel Trlifaj for his thesis entitled Fluid Pollution and Toxic Urban Ecologies: An Ethnography of Air in Sarajevo, which was written under the supervision of Luděk Brož, Ph.D. The jury appreciated the excellent analytical work, the extensive and superior theoretical background demonstrated by the author, as well as the readability of the whole work, which will be of interest not only to specialists.
CASA Prize 2024 - Daniel Trlifaj, Adam Horálek and CASA Board
The CASA Prize for the best master’s thesis was awarded to Mgr. Sabina Vassileva for her thesis entitled “Of Course You Are to Blame for the Rotten Bananas”: An Ethnography of Precarious Labour in a Czech Delivery Service, which was written under the supervision of Mgr. Yasar Abu Ghosh, Ph.D. The jury highlighted the societal overlap and relevance of the chosen topic, the broad, almost interdisciplinary scope of the work and the author's courage to venture into difficult and challenging terrain.
