The Faculty of Humanities in cooperation with the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory of the University of Belgrade has published a new book Roma in Central and Southeastern Europe: Navigating Muslim Identities, Challenges, and Activism.
The editors of the book are Selma Muhič Dizdarevič from the Department of Sociology and Ivan Ejub Kostic from the Belgrade Institute. A number of scholars and experts from the fields of history, sociology, ethnography, and religious studies contributed to the publication.
Selma Muhič Dizdarevič contributed a chapter on women's Roma activism, analysing, among other things, the role of religion in the civic initiatives of Roma women in Central and South-Eastern Europe with co-author Gwendolyn Albert. She has also contributed to a chapter with narrative interviews with prominent Roma activists in the area, in collaboration with Ivan Ejub Kostić.
