Alena Marková Received the Best Historical Monograph of the Year 2016 Award in Belarusian Studies

Alena Markova received the best historical monograph of the year 2016 award in Belarusian studies for her The Road to a Soviet Nation. Nationalities Policy of Belarussization, 1924-1929.


The ceremony of prizes and diploma awarding took place on September 16, 2017 in Staszic Palace of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw during the 7th International Congress of Belarusian Studies.


Alena Marková obdržela cenu za nejlepší historickou práci v oblasti běloruských studií


The book was published by the publishing house of the Belarussian Historical Review journal and received support at the Faculty of Humanities from the Charles University Programmes of Developing Fields (Prvouk) in 2014.


Dr. Markova is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Historical Sociology of the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University, and her long-term research focuses on nationalism, modern nation formations, national identities, and specializes in the contemporary history of Central and Eastern Europe.
