The Faculty of Humanities CU would like to invite you to the final concert of four day course, which will take place on Friday 26 May 2023 at 6 pm in the FHS UK building. The course will be taught by Dr Zuzana Jurkova and Professor David Rothenberg from the New Jersey Institute of Technology as part of the ethnomusicology course at the FHS.
David Rothenberg is known for his work making music with birds, bugs, whales, and whole environments.
His four-day course at Karlovy University ends with a concert where he will play along with students, presenting their new projects created during the course.
Soundwalks, samples, reconstruction of natural sounds, systems and scores, combining music, soundscapes, responses to the architecture and reflections on our human place in nature, a multidisciplinary experimental world awaits.
“Some hear animal music, some hear people music,” as it is written in Japanese haiku from 1866. “All depends on your ears.” Let’s see what our ears reveal
