CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of Charles University announces an Open Call for for the position of assistant professor (male/female) in the field of English language and literature at the Department of Languages and Literature at the Faculty of Humanities of Charles University in Prague.

Position description:

The candidate is expected to participate in teaching of Master’s study programs and both Czech and English Bachelor’s programs of humanities, supervision of student qualification theses and in expanding the research and publishing potential of the Department of Languages and Literature at the Faculty of Humanities.

Requirements:

- completed doctoral studies (we require at least Ph.D. degree) in the field of Philology: English language;

- excellent knowledge of English, of its historical development and its background (geographical facts, society, institutions etc.); the ability to supervise student qualification theses in English;

- previous experience in teaching in the field of English language at the university level;

- a long-term experience in the field of translating both scientific and belletristic literature from the modern and historical English into Czech; the ability to teach translation seminars;

- scientific publications in the field of medieval studies and a good knowledge of the Medieval English literature;

- experience with the Czech and also the international scientific projects and with lecturing also at international conferences.

Commencement of employment: from September 1, 2021

Half-time (0,5) employment (incoming fixed-term employment contract).
