Conference Passions and the origin of moral institutions and civil society

Scholars and students from various fields originated or closely connected with British moral philosophy in late 17th and 18th centuries (i.e. philosophy, history, sociology, political thought, economics, etc.) are both welcomed and encouraged to attend a conference presenting and discussing horizons of gradually progressing changes in interpretation of British debate on the origin of moral institutions, civil society and many other subjects of moral philosophy.

Conference Applied Anthropology in Public Space

Faculty of Humanities, Charles University in Prague, Czech Association for Social Anthropology and Department of Social Anthropology, University of Pardubice, invite you to a Czech and Slovak workshop. The main goal of the conference is to introduce and critically reflect  the subdiscipline of applied anthropology and its participation in public space in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The working languages are: Czech, Slovak and English.

Hearts for Children Days

Hearts for Children Days ("Srdíčkové dny") is a well-known charity event dedicated to help seriously ill children. This year Charles University has decided to support this event and organize collections at several faculties. At the Faculty of Humanities the collection will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in the ground floor of the Jinonice campus. To support this event you can buy hearts and other items for the amount of 20-40 CZK.

Week of Science and Technology

The Week of Science and Technology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech republic is the most extensive science festival in the Czech Republic, taking place each year, in 2015 from 1st to 15th November. The programme offers events all over the Czech republic, including lectures, excursions, science cafés, screenings of documentary films, visits of scientific workplaces, laboratories or libraries.

The colloquium "Erde – Wohnen – Natur. Eugen Fink über die physis des Menschen als ens cosmologicum"

All students and teachers are invited to the annual colloquium of the grant-aided project "Life and Environment. Phenomenological Relations between Subjectivity and Natural World". The colloquium will take place on November 5 and November 6, 2015 in Villa Lanna (V Sadech 1, Praha 6). Feel free to check the programme.

Charles IV Documenta Artis Bohemiae Phototypica

The exhibition of photographs focused on 14th century Gothic plastic art will take place in the St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague and in the Chapel of the Holy Cross at Karlštejn, where Master Theodoric will be emphasised. The exhibition will inaugurate the celebrations of the 700th anniversary of the birth of Charles IV in Charles University.

Developing effective presentations in English

Need to address your audience in English? Want to know how to prepare an entertaining presentation? Interested in the basics of graphic design? If that is the case, the seminars are exactly right for you. The first two 180 minute lessons will take place on March 23 and April 24, respectively, and will be followed by a practical part two weeks later, which will include presentations by the students themselves, who will be given feedback. The seminars will take place in English and are aimed at doctoral and post-doctoral students of CU.

Students’ Association “Studenti FHS UK” is happy to invite you to the Festival of Humanity and Solidarity. The theme of this year is migration and its consequences in culture – music, theatre, photography and gastronomy – but also in the personal experience of volunteers, not only from FHS, who help manage the dismal situation of refugees on the borders of the European Union and at the places of conflict.
