Valentina Podlesná won the second place in the category "Master’s and Rigorosum theses" for her work "Many faces of Chernobyl: temporality, toxicity, complexity in the lives of environmental migrants" (2020, advisor: Bohuslav Kuřík).
Šárka Stříbrská received an honorable mention in the same category for her work "Childfreeness as a response to the current climate crisis" (2020, advisor: Arnošt Novák).

The Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University, where Josef Vavroušek worked as a teacher and vice-dean for science and research, has been announcing a student competition since 1996 dedicated to his memory. In the course of twenty-five years (by 2020), 389 applicants participated in its three announced categories.
