The project „Jazyková pluralita: podpora malých jazyků a kultur“ („Language Plurality: Support of Minor Languages and Cultures“) has won the Label European Language Award. Three colleagues from the Department of Languages and Literature, Marie Novotná, Jaroslava Vrbová and Vendula Vlková Hingarová, have been working on the two-year EEA funds project. They received the award on Monday 17 October, 2022. Congratulations!
The Language Plurality project has been a joint work of the FHS CU and the University of Bergen, its aim being to promote the studies of Nordic and minor languages within the FHS and to spread knowledge of the language and cultural situation of the North among both students and the public.
As a result of the project, there have been inovations or creations of language courses (Norwegian, Old Norse, Samish Language and Culture and the Aborigine Language of Nahuatl) for the FHS undergraduate students, focusing not just on the language, but on the social and historic context as well. Other outcomes of the project include publishing of a printed as well as online textbook of Norwegian, the launch of the www.severskejazyky.cz („Nordic languages“) web portal and a panel exhibition.
