AI Day at FHS: art, ethics and usage of AI in humanities

Join us in examining artificial intelligence from the perspective of humanities and social sciences. The program includes a lecture on AI ethics, a workshop on using AI for research, a contest in generating AI art, a discussion hosted by a student association Exthema, and a series of short presentations mapping the impact of AI on society. Come discuss the future of the relationship between humans and technology. The detailed programme can be found below and you can register for individual items in the programme here.

The event is organized by the recently established AI Institutional Transformation research group at FHS, led by the Vice Dean for Digitalization Ing. Petr Špecián, Ph.D. and is part of the four-city AI Days festival.

Přátelská soutěž v generování AI ilustrací odstartuje sérii praktických workshopů zaměřených na kreativní využití nástrojů generativní AI v humanitních a sociálních vědách. Po krátkém workshopu a diskuzi zaměřené na sdílení základního know-how a příkladů dobré praxe si poměříme své dovednosti v přátelském utkání. Cílem bude vytvořit na základě konkrétního zadání originální AI ilustraci spolu s prohlášením umělce a popisem tvůrčího procesu. Na konci dne porota vyhlásí vítěze, jejichž výtvory ozdobí nový digitální hub. Zveme ostřílené prompt inženýry i nepolíbené začátečníky, aby se inspirovali a motivovali navzájem.

Hollywood screenwriters offer us images of threats of artificial intelligence that will at best enslave humanity, at worst completely wipe it out. But what are the real risks associated with current artificial intelligence? And what good are ethics in AI? If you are an optimist and enthusiast in relation to AI this workshop might raise a few concerns in you, if on the other hand you are afraid of AI replacing humans, this workshop might just calm you down.

We will explore the potential and pitfalls of using AI in Academic Humanities research. We will look at some examples of useful tools and how they may be used ethically in research strategies as well as the limitations of using LLMs to accurately disseminate academic research. We will also play around with comparing LLM and AI models in order to get the best results from prompts (Versel AI) and test our skills through a prompt competition. There will be space for discussing more fundamental questions about the place of humanities higher education in the world of AI and vice versa. We will look at what students and teachers can expect from AI in the classroom and some of the social implications of this new technology.
