Petr Špecián works as an assistant professor at Charles University and Prague University of Economics and Business. His research explores topics at the intersection of philosophy, economics, and the behavioral sciences. He focuses on the role of experts in democratic society and institutional mechanisms for collective decision-making.
His recent monograph, Behavioral Political Economy and Democratic Theory: Fortifying Democracy for the Digital Age (Routledge, 2022), addresses how to make democracy more resilient in the face of challenges posed by human cognitive limitations combined with modern information technologies. At the Faculty of Humanities, he leads a research group examining institutional transformations under the expanding use of artificial intelligence technologies (www.institutional-transformation.ai). He teaches courses in economic theory and applied philosophy.
