We invite you to a lecture titled Old Norse – Norwegian and Icelandic: Perspectives on Linguistics and Philology, delivered by Prof. Ivar Berg (University of Trondheim) as part of the course Approaches to Old Norse Literature on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the FHS UK in room 2.21.
I will discuss the Norwegian and Icelandic shares of the Old Norse linguistic and literary heritage. Philologist have argued at length about the provenance of texts and manuscripts, but irrespective of “whose literature” it is, such discussions tell us somehing about the medieval world and textual societies.
The lecture is held within the framework of Erasmus+.
