You are cordially invited to the launch of the book Vývar: Nejen romské recepty pro snesitelnější klima (Broth: Not only Romani recipes for for a livable climate)
- 23.6.2026, 17:30 @ Tusculum Praha, Chittussiho 144, Bubeneč -
With contributions by Dagmar Lorenz-Meyer, Ph.D. and current and former MA students in gender studies and anthropology Daniela Hanusová, Kateřina Holá and Natálie Nováková.
What can we learn from Romani cooking and gardening about more hospitable ways of living with those around us — human and more-than-human? How can we contend with inherited culinary practices, metabolic relationships and differences? Can the processes taking place in the kitchen, garden or forest inspire thinking, feeling and regeneration? And how can they help us respond to the interconnected crises of a changing climate, rising living costs and an atmosphere of sexism, ableism and anti-Gypsyism? Vývar focuses on these very questions. It turns to inter-ethnic encounters with Romani food practices and explores what memories, gestures, materials, places, affects and history they carry.
During the event we will
☆ present the book
☆ have a Q&A with the authors
☆ cook together from the book
The book launch will be followed by a concert by Tomáš Niesner from 18:30
