“The Politics of Gender Culture under State Socialism” awarded

"The Politics of Gender Culture under State Socialism" book (Routledge Research in Gender and Politics, 2014) edited by Hana Havelková and Libora Oates-Indruchová (Faculty of Humanities, CU) was awarded the BASEES (British association for Slavonic and east European studies) Women’s Forum Prize and came the best book of the year 2014 in the category Woman's Forum dedicated to gender and diversity in the East European, Russian and Eurasian region. Commendation in pdf.

Student Solidarity Movement awarded the Miloslav Petrusek Prize

On April 7, 2016 Charles University marked its 668th anniversary. On that occasion, at ceremonial assembly in the historic Carolinum the Rector, Professor Tomáš Zima, bestowed the Miloslav Petrusek Prize for the presentation of the University and the Bedřich Hrozný Prize for creative accomplishment.

International module "Intercultural Management"

On March 29, 2016, the Department of Management and Supervision in Social and Health Care Organizations, Faculty of Humanities, CU started to pilot the "Intercultural Management" international master module. The module is held in English within the CareMan project (Development of Culture and Quality of Care – Master's Degree Programmes Enhancing Social and Health Care Management Competencies). The project is funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) of the European Union. The module is led by Zuzana Havrdová in cooperation with Lahti University of Applied Sciences (FI), Hämmelina University of Applied Sciences (FI), Edinburgh Napier University (UK) and Évora University (PT).

Conference "Space of the Nordic Literature"

During 16–19 March, 2016 successful conference "Space of the Nordic Literature" was held at FHS. The conference was attended by a number of students. Keynote speakers, Carolyne Larrington and Judy Quinn from Oxford and Cambridge University respectively, were impressed by the research community of Nordic literature that has been created in Prague. 

We would like to congratulate Marie Novotná, the organizer of the conference, and thank her for her work and effort.

Charles University scoring high in World University Rankings

As in 2015, Charles University has scored the highest among Czech universities in an international university rankings based od subjects by Quacquarelli Symonds ranking 2700 university around the globe. The subject "Philosophy" taught at the Faculty of Humanities finished 101.--150., "History" within the first two hundred and the "Environmental Studies" 201.--250. CU ended 279. in the overall ranking.
