Disciplinary Committee

  • Disciplinary committee of the UK FHS is autonomous academic authority of the faculty. Its meetings are open to the public, except for voting, during which non-members must leave the room.

  • The chairman, other members and substitutes are chosen from academic members of the faculty and appointed by the dean; he/she appoints and calls them off with agreement of academic senate of the faculty. Disciplinary committee has at least six members. The chairman is member of the board. Half of the board forms the students. Substitutes are two academic employees and two students.

  • The incumbency of members is maximally two years.

  • From a meeting of disciplinary committee is made a written record. A protocol is made about voting.

  • Disciplinary crime is subjected break of duty arranged by law (law concerning universities) and inner regulations of the university and its parts or subjected break of duties arranged by other law or appointments (see disciplinary arrangement of the faculty and of the university: Code of disciplinary procedure for students of Charles university in Prague). For disciplinary crime of a student the disciplinary board can propose punishment:

    a) the admonition (public or non-public sanction),

    b) the conditional expulsion from the study with appointment of deadline and conditions for the student prove (public sanction),

    c) the expulsion from the study (public sanction).

    The disciplinary committee can also propose to abort disciplinary action.

  • Dean of the faculty can:

    a) can penalize the way proposed by disciplinary board, or – except for cases according to article 5, paragraph 7, letter d) of the disciplinary arrangement of the Charles University –

    b) can mitigate the punishment,

    c) can cease the penalization.

  • Student – or representative of a student with official authorization – can in time limit of thirty days from the day of delivering verdict of dean submit a request for revision of the verdict; request for revision of the verdict is to be delivered to the dean. Time allowed begins the day after day of delivering the verdict of dean to a student. Submitting the request for revision has dilatory effect.

This disciplinary committee stuff was approved by the FHS CU academic senate voting on February 9th 2017. The term of office of these disciplinary committee members lasts two years.
