Disciplinary Board

  • The Disciplinary Board of FHS CU is autonomous an academic authority within the Faculty. Its meetings are open to the public, except for voting, during which non-members must leave the room.

  • The chairman, other members and substitutes are chosen from academic members of the Faculty and appointed by the Dean; he/ she appoints and removes them with the agreement of the Academic Senate of the faculty. Disciplinary Board has at least six members. The chairman is member of the board. Half of the board is formed by students. Substitutes are two academic employees and two students.

  • The incumbency of members is a maximum of two years.

  • Minutes of Disciplinary Board meetings are taken. And voting protocols are followed.

  • Crimes concerning disciplinary action are from a break of duty arranged by law (law concerning Universities), and inner regulations of the University and its parts. Or subjected break of duties arranged by other laws or appointments (see the disciplinary arrangement of the Faculty and of the University: Code of the disciplinary procedure for students of Charles University). For the disciplinary crime of a student the disciplinary board can propose a suitable punishment:

    • a) an admonition (public or non-public sanction),

    • b) an conditional expulsion from the study with an appointment of a deadline and conditions for the student to fulfil (public sanction),

    • c) the expulsion from the study (public sanction).

    The disciplinary committee can also propose to abort disciplinary action.

  • Dean of the Faculty can:

    a) can alter the punishment proposed by the Disciplinary Board, or – except for cases according to article 5, paragraph 7, letter d) of the disciplinary arrangement of the Charles University –

    • b) can mitigate the punishment,

    • c) can cease the penalisation.

  • Student – or representative of a student with official authorisation – can within a time limit of thirty days from the day of the delivered verdict the Dean, submit a request for revision of the verdict; request for revision of the verdict is to be delivered to the Dean. Submitting the request for revision has a stalling effect.
