International workshop Rethinking the Emotions from the Historical Perspective

The international workshop, "Rethinking the Emotions from the Historical Perspective," was held on Thursday and Friday, September 4-5. It brought together young scholars from Charles University and various international institutions, including emerging researchers from the US, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, China, Malaysia, Norway, Ukraine, India, Turkey, Belgium, Israel, Russia, Austria, Slovenia, Portugal, Poland, Greece, and Romania, among others. This gathering aimed to foster a rich, interdisciplinary discussion on the history of emotions across diverse periods and approaches.

The workshop featured over 30 young scholars who presented their research in 12 separate sessions. These presentations explored a wide range of historical perspectives, with each session generating thought-provoking discussions. Participants engaged in lively debates, offering critical insights and drawing connections between historical problems and emotions. To emphasize the collective construction of knowledge, the event concluded with a roundtable. This final discussion allowed participants to address the main methodological and theoretical challenges within the history of emotions, as well as its future perspectives.

The event was further enriched by the insightful contributions of a distinguished scholar, Ondřej Daniel. His opening remarks and interventions provided valuable academic guidance, adding depth to the discussions. His participation ensured that the dialogue among young researchers was both productive and intellectually rigorous.

The workshop not only provided a platform for academic exchange but also fostered a sense of collegiality and collaboration among scholars from different regions and research backgrounds. It successfully demonstrated the power of interdisciplinary dialogue in understanding complex historical issues and offered a unique opportunity for young researchers to engage with global perspectives.
