Effective from October 1st, 2026, the time limit for recognising modules from previous studies (under Article 33(2) of the Charles University Code of Study) will change from the current 10-year period. The new recognition time limits, counted from the date of passing the assessment, are:

Scholarships

Transition of Social Scholarship under the government’s ‘Higher Education Grant‘:

The Social Scholarship will be awarded and paid by Charles University for the last time in the academic year of 2026/2027. Starting from September 2027, the government will take over this responsibility in the form of a state benefit known as the ‘Higher Education Grant‘; the benefit may be available only for students with permanent residence or for exceptions stated by the government.

Merit-based scholarship eligibility for first-year Master’s students:

Students entering their first year of a follow-up Master’s programme can now be awarded a scholarship for outstanding academic achievement based on their performance in their final year of Bachelor’s degree. This applies exclusively to students who completed their Bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Humanities and immediately started a follow-up Master’s programme at the faculty (pursuant to Article 3 of the Faculty’s Rules for Awarding Scholarships and Bursaries).

Updated rules for the merit-based scholarships:

The rules for awarding scholarships for outstanding academic performance throughout the entire course of study have changed (under Article 4 of the Faculty’s Rules for Awarding Scholarships and Bursaries).

It is now possible to apply for a scholarship in acute situations of hardship to the Dean of the Faculty (pursuant to Article 9 of the Faculty’s Rules for Awarding Scholarships and Bursaries).

Updated rules for special consideration scholarships:

Rules and eligibility criteria for scholarships awarded in cases worthy of special consideration have been specified in greater detail under Article 14 of the Faculty’s Rules for Awarding Scholarships and Bursaries.

Student Information System

Transition to electronic document delivery via the Student Information System (SIS):

Official document delivery is transitioning to the SIS; the transition period will last until September 30th, 2027. During this period, students will still be able to deliver applications and official documents by traditional methods (i.e. by post, databox, or in-person at the Faculty’s Registry).

The electronic delivery via SIS will be gradually added during the academic year of 2026/2027. Starting from October 1st, 2027, all students’ submissions and official faculty documents will be delivered exclusively through SIS.
