The study of Applied Ethics is about systematic training in critical reflection on one's and others' attitudes, recognizing hidden assumptions and prejudices and overlooked ethical issues.
• Contemporary European Cultural History •
The aim of the doctoral programme Contemporary European Cultural History is the scientific preparation of experts for thematically broad-based research on history and cultural history, including cultural heritage and traditions in the period from 1918 to the (shifting) most up-to-date present.
• Deutsche und französische Philosophie •
Das Doktoranden-Studienprogramm Deutsche und französische Philosophie, das auf die deutsche klassische Philosophie, Phänomenologie, philosophische Anthropologie und die gegenwärtige französische Philosophie, und deren historische Voraussetzungen und gegenseitige Einflüsse im intellektuellen und kulturellen europäischen Raum ausgerichtet ist, gewährt die anspruchsvolle Fachvorbereitung für die Forschung und die weitere unabhängige Entwicklung der aktuellen philosophischen Richtungen, die sich in Mitteleuropa und in Frankreich profiliert haben und die das Geschehen auf der gegenwärtigen philosophischen Weltszene prägen und gleichzeitig die Form der zeitgenössischen tschechischen philosophischen Szene prägen, mit der sie traditionell verbunden sind.

Das Ziel des Doktorandenprogramms Europäische Kulturzeitgeschichte ist die wissenschaftliche Vorbereitung der Spezialisten für die thematisch breite Geschichtsforschung und Kulturgeschichte einschließlich Kulturerbe und Traditionen im Zeitraum vom 1918 bis zu der (sich verschiebenden) aktuellsten Gegenwart.
The aim of the Study Programme General Anthropology is a broad-based (general) anthropological study of the nature of human behaviour, conduct and cognition in both their biological (genetic) dimension as well as evolutionary, culturally, socially or environmentally conditioned variability.
Historical Sociology is a unique Study Programme that, in the Czech Republic, can be studied only at the Faculty of the Humanities, Charles University. This program aims to advance research activities and pedagogical training of experts focusing on issues of long-term social processes and trends that significantly impact contemporary societies' lives.
The Postgraduate Longevity Studies Programme responds to demographic changes and related social challenges and prepares highly qualified experts for scientific, academic and expert activities and transfer of knowledge into practice.
• Philosophie allemande et française •
Le programme de doctorat de Philosophie allemande et française, centré sur la philosophie classique allemande, la phénoménologie, l'anthropologie philosophique et la philosophie française contemporaine, leurs conditions historiques et leur interaction dans le domaine intellectuel et culturel européen, offrira une formation intensive pour la recherche et le développement indépendant des approches philosophiques actuelles qui ont vu le jour en Europe centrale et en France, et qui affectent substantiellement la scène philosophique mondiale contemporaine tout en formant fondamentalement la scène philosophique tchèque contemporaine avec laquelle elles sont traditionnellement liées.
• Semiotics and Philosophy of Communication •
The Study Programme Semiotics and Philosophy of Communication is interdisciplinary and requires knowledge of basic theoretical concepts and methods of various social sciences, which are necessary for the complex study of communication problems (philosophy, semiotics, media and communication studies, sociology, psychology, cognitive sciences).
New paradigms of the Anthropocene epoch require a new way of asking and answering questions. It is necessary to understand complex interactions between the socioeconomic and biophysical system of our planet, to understand the significance of these relationships, relative importance and also their risks. The Study Programme Social Ecology should continue to contribute to the understanding of these processes as a necessary condition for socioeconomic development that respects environmental limits on which it is completely dependent.
