ANNOUNCEMENT OF COMPETITIVE HIRING PROCESS

I hereby launch, in accordance with Article 2(1) of the Competitive Hiring Process Code of Charles University, the competitive hiring process for the positions of Assistant Professor and Lecturer in the field of social anthropology at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the Faculty of Humanities at Charles University.

2 positions – Assistant Professor – 0.50 to 1.00 FTE

Job description:

- active cooperation in creating a study curriculum within the following programmes of study: "Study of Humanities Education", "Liberal Arts and Humanities" and "Anthropology Studies";

- teaching in accordance with the amount of workload; guidance and external examination of qualification theses; participation in defences, state final examinations and other activities of the unit;

- research and publishing activities; participation in the scientific and research potential of the unit.

Requirements for the competitive hiring process:

- Ph.D. in the field of social and cultural anthropology or in a related field (or just before completion);

- willingness and proven ability to participate in the creation and implementation of the teaching of social and cultural anthropology in the Czech and English language;

- documented research orientation and publishing activities in the field;

- experience in conducting ethnographic research;

- previous pedagogical and research practice at a university is an advantage;

- study, pedagogical or research experience abroad is an advantage.

Required supporting documents:

- structured CV;

- overview of publishing activities;

- letter of motivation accentuating the professional specialization of the applicant, supplemented by an outline of further academic and scientific development;

- selected example of a significant output of own research activity (article, chapter, manuscript);

- design and abstract of two subjects (one for bachelor’s studies, the other for Master’s studies), elaboration of one of these subjects into a syllabus;

- copy of a document proving the highest achieved education.

Start: 1 July 2022

Employment contract for two years.

Lecturer – 1.00 FTE

Job description:
