Abstract of the seminar:

Cities are increasingly important sites of climate activism. In particular, activists become engaged in grassroots alternatives to develop solutions to the climate crisis. Academics have long discussed whether this trend should be interpreted as a politicization or depoliticization. This seminar goes beyond this distinction to explore the social and material urban conditions that shape the political meaning of these trends.
