Faculty of Humanities, Charles University invites you to the seminar Sociological Coffee at 2:30 p.m., organized by the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Humanities of Charles University on Thursday, 23 March 2023 at 2:30 p.m. in room 2.32. The seminar will feature a presentation by Birgit Althans, professor of pedagogy at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts, on "Researching landscapes as affective and political spaces: new material research methods and/or aesthetic practice".
The Sociological Coffee at 2:30 p.m. is a project of the Department of Sociology, which aims to present and discuss the research and scholarly work of both members of the Department and visiting scholars in the field of sociology at the FHS. The seminars are intended for FHS academics, students, PhD students and anyone interested in contemporary sociological research. Good coffee during the seminar guaranteed.
This lecture presents emerging findings from the multi-sited research “Wasteland? Rural Areas as Affective Space and CulturalEducation as Pedagogy of Situating” in their relation to methodological practice. The project employs sensory ethnography and artistic research to examine rural regions of Germany as affective spaces.
