Protest System Collapse! for sustainable higher education

At its meeting on 24 May, the Academic Senate of Charles University supported the upcoming protest action System Collapse!, which aims to draw attention to the imminent instability of Czech higher education due to possible budget cuts for the education sector. The demonstration will take place before the Chamber of Deputies debates on the state budget for 2025. The rally will take place on Monday, 3 June, on Jan Palach Square at 16:00, where opening speeches will be given. It will then pass by the Office of the Government, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. The protest will end at 18:30 at Kampa, followed by an informal picnic. The event is organised by the Hodina Pravdy initiative, which has been drawing attention to the need for decent funding for the humanities and social sciences since last year.
