We cordially invite you to attend two lectures by Professor Christopher M. Bellitto from Kean University, who specializes in Medieval studies. The lectures will take place at Coffee Shop Na Boršově on March 12th and 19th at 16:00, both will be presented in English.
1. Politics and Religion in the Middle Ages and Today: Reflections of an American
Studying the Middle Ages is no longer a quaint exercise in exploring an exotic past reflected in the Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. What were the Middle Ages really – and why do they now matter in such an explosive political way?

2. Pope Joan: History and Legend
Was there really a female pope named Joan? Historical sources suggest that there wasn't—that it was more myth than fact. But every myth has its own history, and the history of this tale can tell us a lot about religion, gender relations, and how women have been portrayed in faith and culture from the Middle Ages to the present day.
