The Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Humanities Charles University invites you to a lecture by Prof. Dr. Daniela Camhy, Dr. h. c. (Karl-Franzens-Universität, Graz): Ludwig Wittgenstein: Architecture as Gesture. The lecture takes place in Liben on Wednesday, April 20 at 2 pm.
Prof. Camhy's research interests in the field of philosophy include language philosophy, ethics, and philosophy of education. At the Faculty of Humanities prof. Camhy will give three public lectures in English.
In this presentation I want to explore Wittgenstein´s metaphor “Architecture is a gesture” and his methods that might allow us to understand the meaning of a work of architecture through the study of its gesture and further look for answers to the question what gestures are.
